WHEN a band’s biggest hit is titled Ready for the Floor, you ought to realise that they want to get you dancing. And Hot Chip certainly do that.
They might look like a collec tion of slightly nerdy guys who were never quite part of the in- crowd at school, but boy are they cool now.
The band brought their unique brand of infectious electropop to the O2 Academy and duly got everyone moving.
From the opening strains of Boy from School, almost the entire audience seemed under a trance.
Hot Chip’s collection of syn thesisers, drums, keyboards, steel drums, maracas, cowbells and guitars began pulling the strings, and puppet-like, every one’s feet, hands and heads were soon moving.
The boys introduced a handful of new tracks, and must have been pleased to see them wel comed like old friends.
But then again it’d be difficult to tell. On stage, Hot Chip just look like they’re having fun all the time – and when they’re around it seems pretty hard not to feel the same way.
