TONIGHT on Amazing Radio you can hear two rising stars from Southampton: vocalist and rapper LST along with singer/songwriter Ebonie G.
Both gave an excellent performance at Coco Rio in Southampton last week at the launch of LST’s new single This is England.
It’s an uplifting song with a message as LST told me: “people are quick enough to complain how bad enough the situation is here, but if you open your eyes you’ll see that we’ve got it good.”
With the aid of his producer Paul Brighton, LST has concocted a tight sound and we’ll be playing the dubstep mix tonight.
You must also see the video on YouTube which was animated by the Humble Film Factory. Part of it is an eye-opening juxtaposition between the war games on our computers and the real world in Afghanistan.
The host for LST’s launch was Ebonie G who also sang a short set in which was the song I Am that she composed for 2009’s Black History Month.
Not only does the track work as a positive anthem for every community, but it’s also a great example putting history into lyrics without appearing cheesy.
And Ebonie told me there is another benefit to having strong subject matter: “songs with message last longer than songs without,” she told me.
The positivity LST and Ebonie G show is probably something we should all practice daily and maybe with them shining a guiding light the path might be easier to tread. 7pm tonight on Amazing Radio – DAB or amazingradio.co.uk (repeated 3pm Sunday)
