FOLK music lovers in Hampshire will next week have a new home to enjoy regular events.
Started by a group of like-minded folk enthusiasts, Winchester Folk Club is a new offering to live music lovers and will have a home in the recently refurbished upstairs bar of the Railway Inn.
Launching the club on Tuesday is the BBC Radio 2 folk awards winner Martin Simpson.
Widely acknowledged as one of the finest acoustic and slide guitar players in the world, Simpson’s interpretations of traditional songs are masterpieces of storytelling.
He will be playing the Railway with support from Twyford’s Darren Black.
The subsequent event sees Chris Wood come to Winchester on June 22. Having won the Radio 2 Folk Singer award his latest album Trespasser then won Album of the Year.
Tickets and more information are available from winchesterfolk.co.uk.
