SOUTHAMPTON favourites Delays end their 11-date tour with a triumphant return to their hometown tomorrow night.
The indie foursome, Greg and Aaron Gilbert, Colin Fox and Rowly, are set to rock Southampton University tomorrow night to bring the dates in support of their fourth studio album.
Aaron, the band’s electronic wizard and vocalist, told Scene South: “It’s been really really difficult to choose a set as we’re four albums in now.
“But we’ve put together some stuff off the new album that we love plus some of the best old stuff. The thing is everyone wants to see different things so we’ve been keeping in touch with our fanbase, talking to them on Twitter and things, and finding out what they want to hear.
“The social networking stuff is strange. The Internet is the thing that killed the music industry and it’s the thing that’s keeping it alive. The Southampton show is always extra special to us.”
Delays’ most personal album to date, Star Tiger, Star Ariel tells of loss, discovery, and magic in and around Southampton and The New Forest.
Reuniting the team behind their acclaimed debut Faded Seaside Glamour, the album sees the band return to their roots, both lyrically and musically.
Delays played a series of intimate shows across the UK earlier in 2009, their first live outing in two years.
These dates follow football-related knee surgery on frontman Greg Gilbert.
The band will then head back to Mexico for a string of live appearances. Aaron also revealed that Delays are hoping to return to Southampton again this year for their now traditional Christmas show.
