Hard rock legends Motorhead, bring their unique brand of metal mayhem to Southampton Guildhall on Sunday.
2010 is a special year for the band, led by legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister, as it marks Motorhead’s 35th anniversary.
Formed in 1975, the band enjoyed massive success in the early 1980s and their albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, in particular, No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith, cemented their reputation as one of Britain’s premier rock exports.
Typically classified as heavy metal, Motorhead’s fusion of punk into the genre helped to pioneer speed metal and thrash metal even though Lemmy prefers to simply describe the band’s output as rock ’n’ roll.
The band is ranked number 26 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
Commenting on the band’s 35th Anniversary tour, Lemmy said: “Who would have thought? Almost like matrimony and no divorce in sight!”
Motorhead are at the Guildhall on November 21. Box office 023 8063 2601.
