A SOUTHAMPTON teenager is a step closer to her dream of superstardom – after scooping a second chance to perform at London’s O2 Arena.
Brockenhurst College student Crystal Cooper, from Totton, has reached the final of national contest Open Mic UK.
The 17-year-old will now sing in front of a panel of industry experts in the hope of winning £50,000 worth of help with her blossoming singing career.
Crystal, described by judges in an earlier round of auditions as having a ‘vaultless vocal’, was also a finalist in the under-16 category of the same contest last year.
“It was amazing when I performed there – such a good experience and hopefully I will enjoy it even more this time around.
“I was a little bit nervous before, but now I know what to expect.
“I normally perform at family parties and things. Everywhere I am I get up and have a song.
After college, I hope to make singing a career.”
Crystal is keeping her song choice top secret, but has previously performed hits by Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and LeAnn Rimes.
