MANY people will remember the Thatcher years with pride, but many will also look back on them as a dark time.

British film Pride looks at a Welsh mining village in a period when the Prime Minister and Union leader Arthur Scargill were at loggerheads over the fate of those down the pit.

And Southampton cinema Harbour Lights Picturehouse has a pair of tickets and a T-shirt from the film up for grabs.

Ben Schnetzer plays bolshie Mark Ashton leading a group of young gay activists who decide to raise money for the community in the remote Welsh mining town.

But when they travel down to deliver the funds they’re unprepared for the homophobia that greets them.

They get help from an elderly villager living in the closet played by Bill Nighy (from Love, Actually and About Time) and the stikers’ wives, headed by Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake).

Noted theatre director Matthew Warchus (Matilda the Musical) manages to get the right mix of knowing humour, indignation and sexual politics, in only his second feature.

Special previews of Pride are at the Ocean Village cinema ahead of its release on September 12, and can be booked now via picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/Harbour_Lights/.

To win a pair of tickets for a screening and a T-shirt from the film simply answer the following question.
