WINCHESTER born artist Daniel Hooper has used his knowledge in construction and design for his latest paintings which will be exhibited this week.

The former Westgate schoolboy creates fresh, exciting and striking designs with a different texture, feel, colour and soul about them. He says he constantly strives to " create a new look and feel that speaks out and that also relates to and fits around modern living." All pieces are large bold and powerful.

He uses recycled materials to create each piece which he says is very important to him, with all paintings using recycled timber sheet rather than canvas.

Artists he looks to for inspiration are" Picasso, Monet, Francis Bacon, Bowie and Bambi".

Daniel added: " I feel very proud to be showing my work in my home town of Winchester".

He is holding an evening viewing event at Fulflood Gallery and Framing on Stockbridge Road, Winchester on Friday March 10.

The mostly one -off, diverse mix pieces can be seen from 5pm- 8pm. There will be nibbles and drink and everybody is welcome.
