AN ELITE group of dancers will be coming together for the opening dance show of the spring season at The Point, in Eastleigh.
The south-east of England boasts some of the finest creative talent in the country, and its dancers, choreographers and film makers are no exception.
As well as live performances, the event, on February 5, will feature screenings of new dance films by artists from the region.
Antonia Grove performs Scag, a distinctively dark and evocative solo created in 1993 by the late Jeremy James whom she met when they were fellow members of Rambert. Antonia is one half of the Brighton-based Probe, last seen at The Point in 2006.
Point associate company Lila Dance present Tracker. Packed with Lila’s trademark physicality and energy, Tracker is a mesmerising journey of intrigue and interaction. Lila Dance has had an exciting year taking part in Resolutions! at The Place, London.
Charlie Morrissey, who has been touring internationally from his Brighton base for more than 18 years, has created a humorous and poetic solo from a simple premise – when he says “on” the lights come on, when he says “off” the lights go off.
The live performances for the evening conclude with Ben Wright’s This Moment Is Your Life.
An hilarious, entertaining entry for the prestigious Place Prize 2008, This Moment Is Your Life is a refreshingly funny piece with some unexpected twists for the audience.
