THE Point has launched a season of matinee performances and screenings designed to appeal to audiences who prefer to visit the theatre during the day.
As an added incentive to try something new, prices range from just £4 to £8 per ticket.
The matinees begin on February 6 at 1.30pm with the screening of Housewives’ Choice a selection of short films from the BFI archive exploring the lives of British housewives from the 1920s to the 1950s.
On February 12 at 1.30pm, The Point welcomes Nottingham-based artist Michael Pinchbeck with The Post-Show Part Show. Michael takes his parents on tour to recreate the post-show party where they met in 1970 after an amateur dramatic version of The Sound of Music. Mixing memories from the past and using the iconic soundtrack of the musical, this poignant re-enactment is a witty and touching journey down memory lane.
Welsh National Opera completes the final matinee of the season, on March 13 at 1.30pm. Making its debut at The Point, Welsh National Opera bring Sweetness and Badness – which tells the story of a group of young people struggling to deal with exclusion, violence, peer pressure and personal responsibility. Combining a thrilling live score with outstanding singing and acting, Sweetness and Badness is performed by five young professional singers and a vibrant ensemble of musicians from its orchestra.
