HAMPSHIRE radio star Scott Mills is to see his rise to fame played out on stage in a musical based on his life. The Radio 1 DJ, a former pupil of Crestwood Community School in Eastleigh, is to be the subject of the comedy musical that started as a joke with listeners on his daytime radio show.
Now the musical has been booked to appear for three nights at this year’s Edinburgh Festival which attracts artists, performers, comedians and musicians from around the world.
The DJ is now working alongside his co-presenter Mark ‘Chappers’ Chapman and show producer Becky to come up with the story as well as write the songs and find actors and musicians to star in the production.
It is due to open in the second week of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to an audience of 300 people.
Scott, 35, who was born in Southampton, confirmed to the Daily Echo the musical would be going ahead.
“It will be at the festival this year!
My life in music – it’s going to be hilarious. Most exciting thing we've done for ages!”
The musical will run at the same time the radio DJ will present his daily afternoon show from the Scottish capital.
A spokesman from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe said they are still putting together the programme for events for this summer’s festival.
“I haven’t yet heard of Scott Mills the Musical but I do know that he will be here for a few days broadcasting his show from the festival.”
Scott has been entertaining millions of listeners on Radio 1 since taking over the drivetime slot in 2004.
He is currently covering the breakfast slot while Chris Moyles is on holiday.
