IT'S a sad day for Beliebers everywhere. Or at least those foolish enough to fork out hundreds of pounds for a few seconds of his time.

The singer has cancelled all meet and greets for the remainder of his Purpose tour, leaving thousands of teenyboppers devastated.

In a bizarre Instagram post, the poor dumpling said fan interaction was leaving him depressed and drained.

“I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy. I want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.”

Who knew it was such a chore to be fawned over by the people who put you on a pedestal - and pay your astronomic wages?!

I'm not a fan of the meet and greet in any case. Not the actual act of interacting with fans as that should be a normal part of life as a performer. Not only does it help them peddle a product, but it gives them an insight into the people who like their music.

It's the paying for a piece of your idol I dislike.

Whatever happened to the days when you had to use your ingenuity to be a teenage celebrity stalker?!

My friends and I spent many a happy time trying to get into bars, hanging around hotel lobbies or making a nuisance of ourselves at various venues across the South in our quest to get a piece of whoever was the flavour of the month.

It was only the other day I was chatting to Phillip Schofield about my teenage conversations with him at Mayflower stage door or through the window of his Jaguar when he was appearing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

And he promises he loved the adulation!

If Justin hugged his fans a little more often, he might cheer up a bit.
