IT seems even the hardest of rockers are becoming big softies all of a sudden.
Sex Pistol John Lydon has announced he wants to make a TV show praising the Royal Family – more than three decades after his punk smash-hit God Save The Queen was banned for insulting them.
The ex-hellraiser, also known as Johnny Rotten, has now decided that the Royals all do rather a good job after all and is fed up of everyone having a go at them.
Of course you could read into his comments this week that he’s struggling to pay the mortgage and thinks such a documentary from the UK’s best known anarchist might make him some cash.
That would be borne out by some of the bizarre products he has endorsed in recent years in commercials for everything from butter to soft drinks.
But I rather like the idea of the ex-Sex Pistol chilling out with The Queen.
With a few exceptions, the Royal Family seem to be great ambassadors for our great country these days and I’ve got a funny feeling Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is more than just a ceremonial figurehead in her responsibility for that.
She’s said to play on Prince William’s Nintendo Wii and do a great Ali G impression.
And footage of her and Johnny Rotten racing each other on Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games would make TV gold.
