THIS self-penned panto had all the essential elements of family fun, bringing together a local community to hiss, cheer and sing along with the gregarious cast.
The content was splendid but occasionally the pace lagged and the characters needed to expand, as some seemed to lack confidence, though this could not be said for the femme fatale, Widow Twing Twang (Colin Fleming) with her tight-fitting outfits, fluttering (sparkly) eyelashes and brassy locks.
Berty (Karen Pearson) was masterly as the intellectually challenged side-kick to the dastardly wizard (Hugh Johnn) and helped Boo (Rachel Woodland) to find her Prince Charming (Jo Swatridge).
There was a good array of songs and some melodious singing to help the evening go with a swing.
A few set-based hitches were dealt with swiftly and the audience supported the cast with enthusiasm and “he’s behind you!”.
A good evening was had by all, “oh no it wasn’t . . . oh yes it was!”
