BEFORE you say anything, (Title of Show) is exactly that! A show written by two people, writing a show about a show.

In essence, a transcript, in song , of the wittier conversations two wannabes had, interspaced with maxims for life and mickeytaking of more traditional musicals.

As exciting as it is to see something that breaks the mould, this has overtones of self-indulgence and the songs are enjoyable but not memorable.

There were some humorous lines, delivered succinctly by the four-strong cast but the funniest moments came from the person with the fewest lines, the keyboard playing musical director (Alex Clements).

The characters are clearly defined and work well together, exuding warmth that elevates the show above its content.

The girls (Vikki-Jo Keens and Kerry Butcher) were slick and the contrast between them worked well.

The boys (Adam Myers and Jez Roberts) were proficient but needed more energy.

Insignificant frivolity or a cult show in the making? I just don’t know – but the small audience loved it.
