ON a hot summer’s evening and in an overly warm auditorium, the idea of being magically whisked with Peter, Edmond, Susan and Lucy to cold, snowy lands, even a Narnia ruled by the White Witch, seemed rather appealing.
This adaptation by Glyn Robbins captured the essence of the story while not quite all the magic.
The production seemed a little ragged around the edges, not quite finished, and unfortunately suffered some technical problems and there was a slight uneveness of pace.
The battle scenes managed to be dynamic and well choreographed.
The presentation of Aslan was deftly done, despite a few technical glitches with the voice, and all credit goes to the team who sweated under the costume to bring him to life.
Kat Smith clearly enjoyed being the White Witch, channelling her Wicked Witch of the West.
The four youngsters playing the siblings worked well together and Joe Burgess was charming as Mr Beaver.
