TO celebrate its Shakespeare Festival, Titchfield Festival Theatre is showing its gratitude to poetry and poets by staging a poetry contest.

Budding writers are invited to submit a poem inspired by any of the Shakespeare plays performed by TFT this summer, which are The Tempest, Two Gentlemen Of Verona, Richard III and As You Like It.

Just choose one theme from any of these four plays, write a poem based on that theme, with a brief introduction saying which play inspired the theme and enter the contest.

For example, some of the themes in The Tempest that might inspire poets include storms at sea, family relationships, colonialism, drunkenness, first love, The Great Globe itself and so many more!

Entry is free and entrants could win up to £150 in the contest, sponsored by Northam Books.

The winning poems and runners up will be announced and performed by either the poets themselves or TFT players at a gala night on September 29.

Email your entries to georgie.gulliford@titchfieldfestivaltheatre.com by September 8.
