FROM comedy to circuses, Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts has announced its autumn season.
Ground-breaking circus performances will take centre stage with the seasons Circus With A Twist programme.
International circus The Big Bang Factory will be showing their skills on September 17.
And French circuses L’Iceberg (September 20 to 21) and Soiree de Gala (October 29 to 30) willbebringing their innovative performances to Poole. The free Family Circus Fun Day on October 27 will be a packed day of performances, workshop and backstage tours along with the opportunity to get involved with circus events and activities, including juggling and trapeze.
The hilarious Fawlty Towers Dining Experience will also be set to entertain from September 6 to 12 where diners are served by Basil, Sybil and Manuel.
The comedy continues with Joe Pasquale in Ha Ha Holmes! on October 4.
An all-male version of A Clockwork Orange will be playing from September 23 to 25. Grown-up theatre also comes in the shape of an eccentric version of Alice in Wonderland from September 30 to October 2.
The Pickwick Papers is on from November 5 to 9 and follows the journey of Samuel Pickwick in 1827. Teechers, a comedy that looks at the education system under the microscope will be delighting audiences from October 7 to 9. A pocketsized version of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice will be at the theatre on October 10. Ghosts is also set to spook audiences on September 26 and 27.
The season sees avarietyof music to keep toes tapping. Solo percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie is performing on October 10. November 10 is a day when the theatre is transporting you back in time – Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Searchers are headlining with plenty of supports acts. The Three Phantoms, celebrating all the musicals will be playing from November 8 to 9.
For a night of hardcore rock, Slade and The Sweet are playing on December 20. The UK’s number one Elvis act will be rocking up on March 7 as will ABBA mania on April 11.
Families can enjoy the explosions of crazy experiments and 3D Bogglevision with Horrible Science from November 12 to 16. The hilarious story Aliens Love Underpants will be having its world premier on October 5.
Michael Morpurgo’s classic Tora!
Tora! will be playing on October 30 and the action-packed Emil and the Detectives is on September 28.
Laughs aplenty come from the comedy line-up which kicks off with Jack Dee making a return to comedy after a six-year absence on November 21. The hugely popular Jongleurs comedy nights are also making a return to the venue throughout the season.
The great entertainment continues with, Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story from November 18 to 24. The famous radio show The Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy will be in town on November 24.
The first live show of Ready Steady Cook with chef Lesley Waters and star host Russell Grant will also be on November 15. Pam Ayres will also spend an evening delighting audiences on October 6.
The season ends with festive season silliness as Lighthouse presents its giant of a pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk from December 6 to January 5. It stars impressionist and actressDebraStephenson as Jack and Game of Thrones actor Patrick O’Kane as Fleshcreep, while the delightful and magical tale The Night Before Christmas will entice a younger audience from December 11 to 24.
