ROB Wilshaw has circumnavigated the globe to play the leading role as part of the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat cast.
Having trained at the Guildford School of Acting, his theatre credits include parts in the ensemble in Aladdin (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford), Call Me Madam (Upstairs at The Gatehouse); Evita (UK national tour); the all-male Iolanthe (Union Theatre) and Betwixt (Trafalgar Studios).
However, he is no stranger to the pressure of a leading role, having previously played Eddie in Blood Brothers (Dubai), Prince Charming in Cinderella (Riverfront, Newport); Peter Pan in Peter Pan (Riverfront, Newport); and been a lead vocalist in Magic Of The Movies (Beirut) as well as Joseph in Joseph And The Technicolor Dreamcoat when it toured to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in March.
Now he has bagged a lead role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, which tells the biblical tale of Joseph, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colours, as it tours the UK, including a stop at Kings Theatre Southsea next week.
“The story is so appealing anyone can access it and it’s one which you want to hear over again,”
says Wilshaw.
“It tells you not to be afraid, to aim high to achieve your goals.”
The show runs from Tuesday to Saturday.
