NUFFIELD will produce a new version of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Snow Queen as its Christmas production this December.
The popular Danish tale tells the story about the wicked Snow Queen’s attempt to kidnap a young boy, Kai, in the frozen north, and his young playmate Gerda’s search and struggle to find him against the evil and icy foe.
The adaptation will include new songs, spectacular set design and an enchanting retelling of this timeless story.
The Snow Queen will be written by multi-award winning comedy writer Georgia Pritchett, who writes for a host of highly successful television sitcoms, sketch and panel shows, including Miranda, Smith & Jones, Spitting Image, My Family, Not Going Out, Life of Riley, which she also created, and multi-award winning shows The Thick of It and Veep.
She has written for feature films, including the Spice Girls’ film Spice World, High Heels and Low Lives and Wallace and Gromit’s The Curse of the Were- Rabbit.
Tickets for The Snow Queen at The Nuffield in Southampton, go on sale on Thursday.
