CHICHESTER Festival Theatre’s West End hit Gypsy took home four Laurence Olivier Awards, including the coveted Best Musical Revival award.
Imelda Staunton was crowned Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Momma Rose, and Lara Pulver triumphed in the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical category for her role as Louise. Lighting designer Mark Henderson completed Gypsy’s quartet of awards, taking home Best Lighting Design.
Gypsy opened at Chichester in 2014 and transferred to the West End’s Savoy Theatre the following year. It was broadcast on BBC4 in December 2015 and a DVD is in development to be released later this year.
