PANTO season is still in full swing in Copythorne where Sleeping Beauty is on stage at the parish hall tonight.
In a colourful and amusing rendition of a familiar story, the evil witch Caraboss (Penny Cannons) places her curse on Princess Abigail (Sian Clarke). That’s despite the best efforts of King Marmaduke the Twenty-third (Graham Stenson) and the good fairies (Rebecca Stenson, Hannah Pasotti and Natalie Pasotti) to save the young girl.
Like all good pantomimes, there’s the resident comics, Willy and Wally Tonker, (Dominic Bailey and Tom Bascombe), who unwittingly assist Caraboss in her evil schemes.
No pantomime would be complete without the Dame, Queen Gertrude, played by Graeme Barber.
Written by Peter Quartermain and performed by arrangement with the Peter Quartermain Productions and Play Bureau, the pantomime contains dance routines and songs written for the pantomime or from well-known musicals.
Shows run this weekend and next.
Tickets, priced £5 for adults and £4 for children, are available by calling 023 8081 3415.
