I HAD no idea the menopause could be so much fun!

Hot Flush is a glorious celebration of women of a certain age.

There’s planty of laugh-out-loud moments in this outrageous new musical, mainly at the expense of men.

Lesley Joseph gives a stand-out performance as divorce lawyer Myra, whose husband has left her for a pole dancer.

I haven’t laughed so much since she performed her notorious Like A Virgin routine in Birds of a Feather.

Myra and her three best friends have reached that age. As members of the Hot Flush Club, they spend every waking moment either sweating, moaning about the men in their lives or, in Sylvia’s case, on heat.

Hillary O’Neil is hilarious as the woman who can’t live without her toyboy or her toy!

Soap favourite Sam Kane impresses as all the male characters in the show.

He is wickedly funny as everything from the sex-starved vicar to a sadomasochist in a mask.

The other two stars of the show were Ruth Keeling, who bravely bared nearly all as Jessica, and Anne Smith (Helen), who held up the musical numbers with her beautiful voice.

Hot Flush is a tongue-in-cheek giggle, which the mainly female and middle-aged audience simply loved.

It continues tonight at the Mayflower. Box office: 023 80711 811.
