Bad turns good when gambler Sky Masterson (Ben Findley) gets a date with Sgt Sarah Brown (Steph Crockford) of the Salvation Army for a bet and ends up falling for her.
Sarah was played with just the right amount of naivety and was a lovely contrast to worldly-wise, jaded Adelaide (Kim Keenan), who finally managed to marry her commitment-phobe, crap game-running fiance, Nathan Detroit (Ryan Jones). The real stars of the show though were the hilarious duo Nicely Nicely Johnson (Tonderal Immanuel) and Benny Southstreet (Paul Budgen), whose singing, comedy antics and stage presence lit up this slow-paced show. The bigger numbers showed some interesting ideas and choreography but the dialogue dragged and the orchestra were off-key on several occasions making the audience lose interest in the central characters.
