As Roger, captain of the local cricket team, endeavours to organise his team for a critical grudge match, his attempts to lead are thwarted by the complicated, unravelling lives of his players and their ladies.
Distinctive characters were portrayed by a good ensemble, all engaging in their own way and with good comic pace, from lecherous Dennis (Peter Hall), philandering Bob (Guy Standley) and arrogant Alex (Chris March) to timid Sharon (Alex Salisbury) and scathing Ginnie (Dawn Cresswell).
Colin Keir (Roger) was extremely focused and committed, particularly when engrossed in the unseen action of the match itself, with increasing tension and irritability; Nikki Walker was excellent as his efficient, resentful long-suffering wife.
Marion Clements was great as outgoing, amorous Maggie, forming a charmingly odd couple with Iain Sutherland Good fun.
