YOUNGSTERS at Dynamo Youth Theatre are taking to the stage at Havant Arts Centre for their latest show this week, a double bill of comedy.
The company is showcasing the younger members in Ernie's Incredible Illucinations while the older members have their own production of Whodidit?
Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations is a play by Alan Ayckbourn that is being directed by two of the older company members, 18-year-olds Yasmin Langley and Helen Moyles.
Young Ernie has been worrying his mum and dad with his ‘illucinations’ – to use their own words. They take him to the doctor, and as Ernie tells him about soldiers invading his home, his auntie taking on a fairground boxer, Dad rescuing a famous mountaineer in trouble these are brought to life before us.
However, at Mum and Dad’s declaration that they are more than illusions, and actually occurred, the doctor is, to put it mildly, sceptical. Indignantly, Dad tells Ernie to show the doctor by imagining something there and then, Ernie does so – with astonishing results.
The second play is Neil Harrison’s Whodidit? This is an engaging spoof on the country house murder mystery story. With a nominal setting, the focus is mainly on the richly- drawn gallery of unusual characters.
Impenetrably mysterious and packed with daft gags, performed in the inimitable Dynamo style, this is a treat for everyone!
The shows continue tonight and tomorrow.
