RAODS brings to the Plaza stage one of the greatest love stories of them all – Romeo and Juliet.
Shakespeare’s tale of doomed teenage passion is set against a background of simmering rage and clan rivalry which explodes into violence at the slightest provocation and ensures plenty of fast-paced action to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Fate and coincidence lend a hand as events unfold with astonishing speed and sweep the young lovers from bliss to destruction in just a few days. Director Ed Howson has set the story in the 1900s, and his production features dynamic young actors Jo Sleight and Vicky Wilson backed by an experienced cast in a pared-down production that focuses on the love of the young couple, the flashes of violence that bring tragedy to the families, and ultimately the grief that others must suffer as a result.
• The production runs from Monday to Saturday with performances each night at 7.30pm. Tickets from 01794 512987.
