THE Point will present the much anticipated world premiere of Balletboyz’ latest venture and new show, The Talent for two nights from Thursday.
Award-winning artistic directors of Balletboyz Michael Nunn and William Trevitt auditioned over 50 young men from all over the world from which eight exceptional dancers, all of whom come from different dance backgrounds, were handpicked to form the new company.
The group, who appeared recently in BBC Three’s The Ballet Boyz:The Rite of Spring, have spent February in The Point’s new creation space putting the finishing touches to their new work.
This will feature specially created pieces by Freddie Opoku-Addaie, associate artist at The Royal Opera House 2 and by Paul Roberts, one of the most sought after choreographers in the commercial sector having worked with Girls Aloud, Pixie Lott and Diana Ross and with roots in the ballet and contemporary dance worlds.
The evening will also include a special reworking of Torsion – an original commission by Balletboyz created by choreographer Russell Maliphant. Originally premiered in 2002 at The Place, Torsion is an outstanding example of strength and balance work. A game with gravity, the work exploits the seamless, intuitive partnership between the dancers on stage.
