FROM the producers of South Pacific, 42nd Street, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, comes a brand new revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical Oklahoma!
Set on America’s Western Frontier, against a background of conflict between farmers and cattlemen, Oklahoma! perfectly integrates song, dance and story to tell the tale of farm girl Laurey and the two rivals for her affections, happy go-lucky cowboy Curly and the sinister farmhand Jud.
Famously, the show opens with Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’ and contains a rousing score full of songs such as The Surrey with The Fringe on Top, People Will Say We’re in Love and Many a New Day, as well as the final rousing chorus of Oklahoma!.
The show stars one of Britain’s most popular leading ladies Marti Webb (Blood Brothers, Evita, Cats) as Aunt Eller and Mark Evans, best known as runner up in Eurovision show Your Country Needs You, as Curly.
n Oklahoma comes to The Mayflower from August 17 to 21. Tickets: 023 8071 1811 or visit mayflower.org.uk.
