The sentiments of “We’re all in it together”, plus the show’s theme of comradeship, could be seen to reflect the ethos of a company that takes a show from rehearsal to performance in one week.
CPYT certainly pulled together the production and the ensemble playing to an impressive degree.
While they might be somewhat formulaic, the High School musicals are entertaining and lively, fliled with catchy tunes. And the cast put their all into bringing the numbers to life. Joey Warne (Troy) impressed in his first lead role and was well matched by Jade Nicholas who made a touching Gabriella.
Lauren Oakley obviously had fun as the villain of the piece Sharpay. Tayler Davis (Ryan) and Matt Baker (Mr Fulton) showed off their comic skills in their respective roles.
This was a briskly paced, nicely staged production that appealed to Disney musical aficionados both young and old.
