HAMPSHIRE is in a strong position to tackle a further squeeze on public spending, say county chiefs.
Council leader Ken Thornber said the £100m budget cuts over the past two years had put the local authority in “a very strong position” to cope with reduced Government funding from 2015-16.
The local authority is planning to freeze council tax in 2013-14 in return for a £5.3m Government grant, which is equivalent to a one per cent increase in council tax.
