A LORRY carrying thousands of litres of liquid sewage overturned in a Hampshire village today.
Fire crews were this afternoon working to stop diesel from the stricken vehicle leaking onto the road surface and into drains.
The tanker, which was carrying 8,000 litres of liquid sewage, overturned in Leckford Lane, Stockbridge, shortly before 12pm.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Andover, Stockbridge and Eastleigh have been using containers in an attempt to stop more than 100 litres of leaking fuel from entering drains and the road surface.
It is not thought any of the sewage has escaped from the vehicle.
The driver was taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.
Authorities said the road will remain closed until it is made safe and the lorry is recovered.
