IT offers the best chance to bring the county’s bounty to the market.

From wine and beer to game, fruit, confectionery and ice-cream, the Business Solent Supplier’s Showcase 2013 will see producers set out their stall to big and small buyers.

The Daily Echo-backed event at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in West Quay Road, next Tuesday will see 40 exhibitors and more than 130 potential customers.

This is the biggest the annual show has ever been in its five-year history.

Business Solent spokesman Sarah Davis said: “It is about getting Hampshire’s local produce further afield and more in the spotlight.

“The exclusive event is a great platform for buyers to interact with suppliers to showcase their fantastic range of local food, beverages and products from local dairy and meat farmers to breweries, vineyards and specialist gift suppliers.”

New for this year is the “try local” seminar aimed at encouraging and educating buyers in the Solent region about the fantastic range of products available on their doorstep.

Attendees include Carnival UK, Saga Shipping, Forestdale Hotels and Flybe.

Crucially, it offers face-to-face meetings with customers – and the all important opportunity to sample the goods. This includes a taste tipple or two with Itchen Valley Brewery and a slice of the best with Loosehanger Cheese.

There is also our interactive ‘Buyers and Suppliers’ workshop with an expert panel ready to discuss the procurement process and opportunities to overcome challenges.

The suppliers’ showcase was organised by Business Solent in conjunction with county food group Hampshire Fare, Hampshire County Council and Cavendish Ships Stores.
