DELAYS in clearing heavy leaf fall are proving an issue in Colden Common.
The issue was raised at a full council meeting by Colden Common and Twyford councillor Peter Mason.
He said: “A road sweeper came last Thursday to Colden Common and men with brooms came just before Christmas to clear areas of heavy leaf fall.
“This action was much later than in 2011.
“The leaves fall at pretty much the same time every year and if the contractors in place are not set up to deal with this, then that’s upsetting.
“In my opinion this has caused an awful lot of problems for the area.”
Roger Huxstep, portfolio holder for the environment, was unable to attend the council meeting to talk about the problem, however, in a statement the cabinet said that: “The Landscape Group have admitted they have experienced difficulties and will be changing the approach to clearance in future years, including the likely use of different equipment to speed up operations and ensure that the priority areas are addressed in a timely manner.”
