A teenage boy was dragged into an alleyway and raped after being attacked on his way to his Hampshire home.
The boy, 16, was attacked at 11.45pm on Friday in an alleyway, said police.
Detectives have said the suspect walked along with the boy, in Southsea before the attack.
He followed him him from Victoria Road South on to Stafford Road before grabbing him and forcing him into an alleyway and then raping him.
Detectives are conducting house to house enquiries and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The suspect is described as white, aged between 25 and 35, about 6ft and with puffy, short blondish-brown hair. He was wearing a scruffy jumper.
Detective Inspector Nigel Oliver, leading the investigation, said: ''This is an extremely unusual incident and we are of course doing all we can to find the attacker.'' Anyone with any information should call detectives on 0845 045 4545 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
