A man has died after an accident with a taxi in Southampton.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed about the collision, which happened in Bevois Valley Road shortly before 4am today.
A police spokesman said the commission was told because the victim had had "contact" with officers earlier in the evening.
Bevois Valley Road was closed for ten hours while police investigated the accident and arranged for the taxi to be taken away for examination.
South Central Ambulance Service said the victim suffered serious injuries after colliding with a car and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.
