THEY are promising to stage Hedge End’s biggest ever music event.
Two men are planning to put on an extra large ‘Party in the Park’ extravaganza this summer – to make up for the bitter disappointment of having to cancel 2012’s event amid dismal weather conditions.
Ken Deacon and David Gates want to bring together bands, solo artists, entertainers and performers for a musical bonanza on June 1 in Greta Park.
David said: “Kenny first put the idea to me a couple of years ago. He is a keen supporter of involving young people in sport and wanted to expand this into music so that’s how the idea came about.
“The idea is to create a mini festival atmosphere. We may not be as big as Reading or the Isle of Wight yet, but we see this as the first of many and look forward to it growing each year.”
