PASSENGERS at two Hampshire stations will be saved hours of queuing thanks to new collection-only ticket machines.
The new style “ticket on departure” machines will be installed at Southampton Central Station and Southampton Airport Parkway and will let passengers pre-book online to later collect the tickets at the station.
On South West Trains rail network 14 collection-only machines will be installed, costing £200,000. It is part of a £50m investment to improve station facilities across the south.
Head of IT applications for Stagecoach, which owns South West Trains, Paul Chick, said: “We have already invested heavily to install additional ticket machines. With many passengers now choosing to buy their tickets through our website we wanted to provide even easier access to passengers simply wanting to collect their pre-booked tickets.”
