POLICE have named the pedestrian killed crossing the A36 at Whiteparish near Romsey last week.
He was 86-year-old Gerald Harding from the Salisbury area. Mr Harding died when he was struck by a Volkswagen Move Up near Brickworth Corner shortly before 5pm on January 16. The car was being driven towards Salisbury at the time.
Police say other motorists' stopped at the scene and tried to help the victim but there was nothing they could do to save him.
