ROMSEY Toy Library has a new home for the mountain of children’s favourites it offers for loan.

Staff transferred hundreds of toys from the charity’s old premises at Frankie’s Fun Factory 100 yards to Academy Studios on Romsey Industrial Estate.

Academy Studios owner Nikki Jones has let Romsey Town Library use the premises free of charge and also arranged for a makeover of Studio B to accommodate the service.

It has more than 500 toys aimed at children aged up to eight – from rattles to ride-on toys.

Founder Lyn Bird said: “When I set up the toy library ten years ago, I had a £2,000 grant from Hampshire County Council to pay for the first toys.

“A lot of the toys we’ve got here are new but we do accept good quality toy donations.

“Some people borrow toys because they have not got the storage space at home. Toys that are borrowed are always played with. Some people swap every two weeks.”

The new-look toy library opened on Monday between 10.30am and 12.30pm and will be open every Monday from now on   during school term time.

It will also be open on the first and third Monday evening of each month.
