POLICE arrested a woman after an attempted raid on a cash machine in Hampshire today.
It came after a member of the public alerted the police when they spotted a masked person tampering with the machine at Greatbridge Service Station in Romsey at about 1am.
When officers arrived at the scene, a woman was seen speeding away from the cashpoint and failed to stop for police.
Detectives traced the registration plate of the vehicle, before detaining and arresting a woman in Southampton around an hour later.
A police spokesman confirmed that the 34-year-old woman was still under arrest and being questioned on suspicion of attempted theft.
