A RETIRED nurse has scooped the jackpot in the latest lottery from one of Hampshire's best-supported local charities.

Maddie Millyard, from Kings Worthy, walked off with the £1,000 prize after winning the weekly lottery at the Naomi House children's hospice near Winchester.

Mrs Millyard, who worked as a nurse at the home from its opening in June 1997, is now urging others to enter the £1 draw, which has 20 prizes in total ranging from £1,000 down to £5.

She said: "I've never won anything like this before. I will use the winnings to take my husband to New York to do some Christmas shopping."
