A SOUTHAMPTON man fractured the cheekbone of his former partner's new boyfriend in a row over access arrangements to his daughter, the city crown court heard.
The incident happened when the victim, Christopher Young, had just put a laptop computer into his van outside a Shirley shop.
Prosecutor Richard Willcox described how the pair were talking about the arrangements when Kyriakos Nicolaou suddenly lost his temper and struck him in the face.
Though he managed to remain on his feet, Mr Young suffered an extensive injury to his right cheekbone, a facial cut and a graze on his eye.
Nicolaou, 34, of Wakefield Road, Southampton, was convicted of causing actual bodily harm and was bailed until December 18 for sentence.
The court heard he had a previous conviction for assaulting his former partner.
Denying the allegation, Nicoloaou said Mr Young spoke to him in a threatening manner and seeing him pick up something in the back of his van, he pushed him away with an open palm in self defence.
