AFTER a year of entertaining ladies across the county, Hamp-shire's most unlikely strippers have called it a day.

However, before they hang up their boxer shorts for the last time, they have made one appearance in memory of a Southampton student.

The Fool Monty gang - a mix of electricians, businessmen, mechanics and car salesmen - swapped their day jobs to perform a risque dance routine in the style of the 1997 hit film The Full Monty for the final time.

In their short lifespan, the group has raised more than £9,000 for charity.

The night was held in aid of the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital in memory of Hampshire student Glen Plowman.

Glen, 19, collapsed in the street while enjoying a night out with friends in Southampton, just hours after he was attacked by two men while skateboarding.

He died three weeks later in hospital.

For one night only, the troupe of unlikely lads dropped their trousers to wow crowds at Aerostructures Sports and Social Club in Hamble Lane, Hamble.

It seemed that Hampshire ladies were making sure they would not miss out on the action - event organiser Cheryl Smith said that tickets sold well in advance.

Cheryl, who works at the neurological unit, said: "It was a brilliant night and it was all for a good cause.

"My niece Emma Richardson was Glen's girlfriend so it's a cause that is especially close to my heart."
