FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze in a village near Winchester yesterday.
Fire engines from Winchester, Eastleigh, Basingstoke and Bishop’s Waltham were called to Chapel Lane, Easton, at around 8.45am for a fire involving two caravans.
Two men were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, and one was taken to hospital.
It took firefighters two hours to put out the fire, which left one caravan completely destroyed and the other one partially damaged.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said the large response was sent because it was feared the fire could spread to nearby gas containers, although they were removed safely.
An investigation is under way into what caused the fire, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
