A ST GEORGE'S day parade due to take place in Southampton today has been cancelled in the wake of yesterday's shooting.
The traditional Southampton Scouts parade, centred on St Mary's Church, has been called off because of the ongoing police murder investigation.
The event is attended by hundreds of scouts and members of the public each year.
An email was sent out last night by scout group leaders to the parents of those participating.
It read: "Apologies for the late cancellation but tomorrow's St Georges Day Parade has had to be cancelled.
"This is due to the shooting that occured in St Mary's area this morning. The police have closed the area. Consequently the decision has been taken to cancel the parade."
