WEST Quay Road in Southampton was closed today after an articulated lorry crashed, shedding its load of steel slats across the carriageway.
The stretch of road near Red Funnel ferry terminal was affected, with French Street and Bugle Street also shut while a ten-tonne crane was brought to the scene to clear the debris.
It was not known what caused the red Scania lorry to crash, at about 9.20am, but no other vehicles were involved and no one was injured in the incident.
The lorry could not be moved, and once police had cleared traffic, the roads were closed shortly before 10am.
