HAMPSHIRE students have joined the stampede to help boost their CV.
Totton College will be part of the rhino charge set to hit Southampton this summer, showcasing their artistic talents on one of the life-sized sculptures that will soon take its position on the ten week trail.
Marwell Wildlife’s Go! Rhinos public art extravaganza, backed by the Daily Echo, promises to create a trail through the city which will provide a unique day out for families and tourists, bringing a boost to the local economy.
Vicky Wilson, head of marketing, said: “At Totton College we want to offer our students the best experiences possible.
“The Go Rhinos! campaign provided us with just that – the chance for our students to showcase their talents and have that work on display for all to see.
“In addition, the fact that the rhino will be sold at the end means not only will they have a heavyweight addition to their CV or portfolio, but they will have already sold a piece of work.”
A total of 30 businesses from across the region have signed up to have their very own life-sized rhino positioned along the route.
Once they are ordered, the rhinos will get a multicoloured makeover, ready to be showcased during the tenweek trail which starts in July.
At the end of the event, the sculptures will be auctioned off, with the proceeds being split between Marwell’s rhino conservation work, the Rose Road Association and Wessex Heartbeat’s HIGH 5 Appeal.
