POLLUTION problems and calls for a Lyndhurst bypass were among the issues discussed at a transport conference in the New Forest.

Staged by New Forest Business Partnership (NFBP), the event included speakers from the Department for Transport and Hampshire County Council, plus an expert on alternative fuels.

More than 80 representatives from the business community shared their views on the area's road, rail and ferry links.

NFBP chairman Barry Olorenshaw said: "There was a lot of interest from the business community on a range of transport issues, particularly roads. We need to continue working with the relevant local authorities and central government to resolve some of the transport challenges in this area."

NFBP staged the event with the county council, New Forest District Council and the New Forest National Park Authority.
