LONG-SERVING members of St John Ambulance from across Hampshire were among those recognised for their loyalty by the national organisation at a special ceremony in London.
Five of the county's volunteers were invested into the Order of St John, including the president of the first aid charity in Hampshire, Virginia Lovell, and the former president of its Hedge End division, Hazel Guy.
As chairman of the fundraising committee, Mrs Lovell, from Bishop's Waltham, raised £35,000 for St John Ambulance earlier this year by organising an outdoor opera.
Mrs Guy has been involved with the organisation since 1966.
Also invested at the Priory Church ceremony were Barry Thorne, from Fordingbridge, Maureen Meek, of the Fareham division, and Valerie Spencer, from Alton.
